RESPONDING TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
With technical and financial support of our donors and partners, LSO was able to operate and continue providing life-saving services to our clients and beneficiaries in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic in Afghanistan.
LSO’S COVID-19 RESPONSE AS OF END DECEMBER, 2020:
In December 2019, the world found out a new family of Coronavirus in Wuhan, China; therefore, it is called COVID-19. The COVID-19 was spread around the world including Afghanistan very rapidly. Like other parts of the world, Afghanistan has been hit hard and suffered economic hardship due to the country-wide lockdown in 2020.
Despites of COVID-19 pandemic, LSO remains a sanctuary to hundreds of women, children and under-privileged people who have nowhere else to turn. They are survivors of violence without a safe home and people whose economies depend on daily wages/income. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, LSO’s centers and programs remain open and we continue to take in new cases and provide technical and economic support to the poor.
Thanks to the help of key funders and loyal supporters during this health crisis, LSO was able to keep our extensive network of programs across Afghanistan and our women protection centers remain open and available to the hundreds who rely on our services every day. And, LSO has been able to ensure everyone under our care or who comes to LSO for help, is safe, despite the pandemic.
